Gabe is our newest full-time DHer and we couldn’t be happier to have him aboard. His sharp eye for detail and willingness to jump in on any project make him a perfect fit for DH. When he’s not deep in web projects, he can be found flexing at the gym or relaxing at the lake with his wife and kids.
What drew you to graphic design?
I’ve always been interested in how websites work – what goes into making them visually appealing, yet functional at the same time. With everything being web and app driven these days, I wanted to dive into that technology and dig a little deeper.
What makes you excited to be a graphic designer at DH?
The environment and people here are my favorite part. The culture is fun and exciting, and it’s awesome to be surrounded by such inspiring and intelligent people. I’ve worked on some really cool projects like the Innovia and Grant County PUD websites, and I’m excited to do even more. I love discovering how a client wants to be portrayed by the public and bringing their vision to life – helping them tell their story the way they want it to be told.
What advice would you offer to someone entering the field of graphic design?
Definitely ask questions – lots of them. Try as many aspects of graphic design as you can – whether that’s web design and development, print or animation, whatever it may be. Figure out what you’re passionate about and go for it.
How do you like to wind down after a busy day at the office?
It’s not exactly winding down, but I love playing with my kids and chasing my son around the house. My wife and I are also a year in to being homeowners, so we spend a lot of time working on household projects. Needless to say, I stay pretty busy.
