2017 SPARK awards

LAST WEEK DH ATTENDED the Spokane Regional MarCom Association’s annual Spark Awards, celebrating the best marketing projects and campaigns in our region. We were excited to host two of our clients, Spokane Transit Authority (STA), and Eastern Washington University (EWU) as they won the two biggest awards of the show!

That’s Brandon Rapez-Beatty in the middle holding The Blaze Award, given to the highest scoring campaign entry. STA took this home for their Proposition 1 campaign which conveyed to our community the importance of funding new transit projects across our region. They partnered with us to generate strategic messaging at an educational level, along with tactics like videos, collateral, web and social content, plus grassroots community relations across our region. We were proud to see Proposition 1 pass and to see STA win this much deserved award!

Pictured above is Teresa Conway holding The Dussault Community Impact Award which goes to the highest scoring campaign that had a positive impact on the Spokane community. This was to recognize their Giving Joy Day campaign which raised community $100,000 for EWU’s scholarship programs. They ended up raising $274,770 thanks to an incredibly coordinated earned, paid and owned media campaign their social and web platforms. Kudos for doing such good in Eastern Washington, EWU—we are so proud to have worked on this campaign with you.

Additional Awards

We also want to congratulate two more of our clients for awards, including Ecova for their corporate repositioning campaign, and the City of Spokane’s Parks and Recreation department for their “Enjoy Spokane Summer” campaign.

Finally, we’re incredibly proud of our own Emily Easley who was honored at the show for serving as MarCom’s president this year. Her leadership was felt in the collaboration between MarCom, PRSA and AAF Spokane, and in the great programs she brought to our community. Thanks for all you to do lead this great professional development organization, Emily.
